EQUIVOCATION

EDITION VII: EQUIVOCATION

LETTER FROM THE EDITORS

A Chairde,

Arguably the most famous poem ever written begins, as you well know,

“two roads diverge in a yellow wood”.

This edition asks– what if we sort of hated both roads in the damn stupid wood and just decided to take neither?

What do we do when we are presented with an imperfect story? Little inconsistencies , issues, doesn’t-quite-line-up-isms? Torn between poor choices? Equivocation is a half-truth, the practice of hiding in plain sight as a sort of coping mechanism. It can be frustrating and destabilising and nearly always deeply unhealthy, but isn’t there a bit of fun to be found in a lie sometimes? Or a sort of lie, we suppose. Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows?

We’re sure of some things, anyways: how delighted we are with this edition, how cheesed we are that you’ve decided to crack it open, and how impressed we think you’ll be with the contents.

We’ve got debts no honest editors can pay to our contributors, our family and friends and partners, and you, dear reader, without whom this exercise is rendered both futile and impossible. We remain grateful to you, and to each other.

Le grá,

Úna agus Jack
